IQ Option vs ExpertOption: 2026 India Head-to-Head
Platform Snapshots
A snapshot should be the handful of facts that survive a year, not a feature list scraped from a landing page. Here is that handful for IQ Option, and how to assemble one for ExpertOption.
Consider what changes and what does not. Payouts, promotions, asset counts and screenshots change constantly; the legal entity you contract with, the licence behind it and the regulatory notices attached to the brand change slowly and leave records. A snapshot built on the second kind is still useful next year.
IQ Option in five durable facts
- Its European arm is IQBroker Europe Ltd, formerly IQOption Europe Ltd, company registration 327751, in Limassol, Cyprus.
- That arm holds CySEC licence 247/14, granted 30 July 2014 and listed as authorised.
- The licence covers EEA clients. Clients elsewhere are onboarded by a separate, non-EEA entity named in the client agreement at sign-up.
- There is no SEBI registration, and none is claimed.
- The brand appears on the RBI Alert List, covered in the next section.
Assembling the same snapshot for ExpertOption
We publish no licence, minimum or payout for ExpertOption, because we have verified none. The snapshot is yours to build, and it takes about ten minutes: open the client agreement offered to an Indian resident and note the entity name and registration number, take that name to the register of whichever regulator is claimed, and search the brand and its domain on the current RBI Alert List. Anything you cannot confirm from one of those three sources does not belong in your comparison.
Where the two product ranges overlap
Both sit in the same corner of the market: short-horizon directional trades on currencies, indices and commodities, taken in a browser or on a phone, resolved in minutes. That shape carries its own consequences regardless of which logo is on the screen — most retail accounts trading these products lose money, and trading more often generally makes that worse rather than better. If the instruments themselves are new to you, read our explainer on digital options and CFDs before you compare anything.
Build every platform snapshot from facts that leave a public record, because those are the only ones still true by the time you act on them.
Safety and Licensing
Safety is a chain: contracting entity, supervising authority, and whatever your own regulators have published. Break any link and the rest of the comparison stops mattering.
The Indian position, stated plainly
Begin where an Indian reader should. IQ Option appears on the Reserve Bank of India's Alert List at entry 25, as at the list update of 19 November 2025, listed as "IQ Option — https://iq-option.com". The RBI defines that list itself:
"The Alert List contains names of entities which are neither authorised to deal in forex under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA) nor authorised to operate electronic trading platform (ETP) for forex transactions under the Master Direction – Reserve Bank of India (Electronic Trading Platforms) Directions, 2025 dated June 16, 2025."
It is a statement about authorisation. It is not a finding of fraud and not a ruling about you. The RBI also warns the public against remitting money for forex transactions to unauthorised platforms and states that an entity absent from the list should not be presumed authorised — which is exactly why we do not tell you where any rival stands. Search each name and domain yourself at rbi.org.in, on the day you are deciding.
The client lifecycle, stage by stage
| Stage of being a client | IQ Option — what the record shows | What to establish for any rival |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-up | A non-EEA entity contracts with clients outside the EEA; the name appears in the agreement. | Read the agreement and write down the entity and its registration number. |
| Supervision | CySEC 247/14 covers the EEA arm only — no compensation scheme or ombudsman for a client in India. | Open the regulator's register entry and read the scope field, not the badge. |
| Indian status | On the RBI Alert List, entry 25, list as on 19 November 2025; no SEBI registration. | Search both the RBI list and sebi.gov.in for the name. |
| Dispute | Recourse runs through the operator's own process and its foreign supervisor. | Find the complaints clause in the terms before depositing, not after. |
Verification, and why it belongs in the safety section
Identity checks are usually presented as a nuisance. Treat them instead as a comparison signal: a platform that publishes its document list, its acceptable-proof rules and its verification timing before you deposit is telling you something about how it handles the withdrawal request that comes later. Complete KYC early, while your balance is small and nothing is urgent — our page on account verification and KYC explains what usually goes wrong, and name mismatches between documents lead the list by a distance.
Judge verification policy before you deposit rather than after you win, because that is when its terms are still a choice rather than an obstacle.
Costs and Entry
Entry costs are quoted everywhere and sourced nowhere. Approximate bands for IQ Option are available; anything precise, for either platform, has to come off your own screen.
The cost of starting has three parts — the smallest deposit accepted, the smallest position allowed, and what the platform keeps from a trade. Only the first two have public approximations for IQ Option, and the third is structural rather than a single figure.
What it takes to start
IQ Option's minimum deposit is commonly reported around the USD 10 mark, roughly ₹800 to ₹900 at current rates, with a minimum position commonly reported at about USD 1. Neither figure is confirmable on an official page, so read both as bands and check the live number at the cashier before planning — our minimum deposit page has the detail. For ExpertOption, take the figure from its own cashier. A low minimum is a marketing feature rather than a safety feature, and it deserves no weight in a safety comparison.
How the platform earns, and why payout claims are unverifiable
On fixed-return instruments the platform's economics live in the stated return on a winning trade and in the spread or fee on other products. That means a "92% payout" headline is a marketing variable — it moves by instrument, by expiry, by account tier and by time of day. Nobody outside the operator can audit it, which is precisely why this page prints no payout percentage for either platform and why you should be wary of pages that do. Read the return quoted on the actual order ticket, for the instrument and expiry you intend to trade, and note it yourself.
Funding, and the UPI question
We make no claim that UPI, Paytm, IMPS or INR transfers work on either platform. The rails shown at a cashier depend on country, verification status and processor arrangements that change without announcement, so the only current answer is the one inside your own account. Our deposit methods page explains that in full. On the way back out, expect identity verification before a first withdrawal and funds returning to the method used to deposit — both are industry norms rather than figures we can quote for this brand — with timing typically same-day to a few business days once a request leaves the operator, plus whatever your bank adds. Our withdrawal guide covers what causes delay from India.
The payout percentage on the order ticket in front of you is the only one worth writing down; every headline version has been rounded up by somebody.
Apps and Experience
Software is the half of this comparison you can settle first-hand. Both platforms offer practice accounts, so an hour of your own use outranks every review video on the subject.
Nothing in the sections above can be tested from your sofa. This can. Install both, run the same routine on each, and the part of the decision that depends on taste becomes evidence instead of opinion.
Devices and builds
IQ Option is generally available as a browser trader room, an Android app, an iOS app and a desktop build for Windows and macOS. Availability of any specific build varies by country and changes, including whether the Android app arrives through Google Play or as a direct download, so confirm on the official site — our Android and APK guide and the Windows guide cover the mirrors worth avoiding. Test on your own handset and mobile connection rather than on a reviewer's, since a mid-range phone on patchy data is the honest test of any trading app.
Social features, tournaments and other engagement design
Platforms in this category lean on leaderboards, copyable trade feeds, tournaments and badges. Read them for what they are — retention mechanics that increase how often you trade, which is not a neutral outcome in a product where most retail accounts lose money. They are not evidence of quality and they are not an edge. Our page on tournaments is candid about what taking part actually costs.
A one-hour comparison you can run yourself
IQ Option's demo runs on a practice balance you can top up again, and because no deposit is involved the remittance questions above simply do not arise while you are practising. You can try the practice account first, then repeat the identical routine on the other platform:
- Ten practice trades on the same instrument and expiry, at the same hour, on both.
- Add one indicator and change the timeframe on each, counting taps and reloads.
- Return a day later and check whether the order history explains what you did.
- Time how long each platform takes to show you its withdrawal terms.
New to the order ticket itself? Our beginner walkthrough covers the mechanics before you start counting taps.
The fourth item on that list is the most revealing: how quickly a platform will show you its withdrawal terms says more than its charting ever will.
The Verdict
No winner is declared here. One column of this comparison rests on public records and the other on nothing we verified, and a verdict drawn across that gap would be invented.
Comparison pages end with a score because a score is satisfying, not because it is earned. What follows is the honest state of the evidence and a way to turn it into your own decision.
IQ Option, stated fairly in both directions
In its favour: an established platform, a European authorisation behind its EEA entity since 2014, a free practice account, a low reported entry point, and apps on the devices most Indian readers already use. Against, or at least to be clear-eyed about: the CySEC licence does not reach you, there is no SEBI registration, the brand sits on the RBI Alert List, and the Liberalised Remittance Scheme expressly does not permit remittances for margins or margin calls to overseas counterparties. Our full India review and the page on the scam question handle both sides at length.
Who each choice suits
| Your priority | What follows from it |
|---|---|
| Learning the product without spending | Practice mode on both platforms for a week, with notes you keep. |
| Indian oversight and a domestic complaints route | Neither platform provides it — see our alternatives page. |
| Knowing who holds your funds | Both client agreements, read before depositing, entity names written down. |
| Reaching a human when something breaks | Test support on each before funding; our contact guide shows how. |
The fair, cautious close
Neither platform is presented here as safe or unsafe, and neither should be by anyone who has not checked the registers on the day you are reading. These are high-risk products, most retail accounts trading them lose money, and supervision sits offshore in both cases, so your own diligence does the work a domestic regulator would otherwise do. Keep clean records of every deposit, trade and withdrawal — profits are taxable income for an Indian resident and their classification is fact-specific enough to be a question for a chartered accountant, as our tax page explains.
A comparison that refuses to name a winner is not dodging the question; it is telling you the two columns were never filled from the same quality of evidence.
Frequently asked questions
Which is better for India, IQ Option or ExpertOption?
Nobody outside both companies can answer that with verified data, and the figures usually offered are unsourced. What you can decide for yourself is which entity signs your contract, which regulator supervises it and with what scope, whether each brand appears on the current RBI Alert List, and how each app performs on your own phone in practice mode. Those four answers are worth more than any ranking.
Is IQ Option listed by the RBI?
Yes. IQ Option appears on the Reserve Bank of India Alert List at entry 25, as at the list update of 19 November 2025. The RBI describes the list as naming entities neither authorised to deal in forex under FEMA nor authorised to run an electronic trading platform for forex transactions. It concerns authorisation rather than fraud, and the RBI notes that absence from the list does not imply authorisation.
Why are no payout percentages compared on this page?
Because a payout headline is a marketing variable that shifts by instrument, expiry, account tier and time of day, and no reader can audit it. Printing one for two platforms would give a false impression of precision. The number that matters is the return shown on the order ticket for the instrument and expiry you actually intend to trade, which you can read yourself in seconds.
Is either platform registered with SEBI?
IQ Option is not, and no SEBI registration number exists for it. We make no claim about any other brand — search each name on sebi.gov.in, where the register of intermediaries is public. SEBI's consistent advice is to deal only with registered intermediaries and to verify registration on its own website rather than relying on a claim made in an app or an advertisement.
Do I have to deposit to compare the two platforms?
No. Both offer practice modes, and practising involves no payment, so nothing crosses a border and the FEMA and Liberalised Remittance Scheme questions do not arise at that stage. Demo comparison also removes the pressure that makes people rush funding decisions worth making slowly.
